Each week, Connected Cars receives a report from the Danish tax authorities (SKAT) of vehicles that have been re- or deregistered. Vehicles which have been deregistered are automatically deactivated. The user will be removed from the vehicle and will receive notification of this.
Re-registered vehicles are processed manually by Connected Cars Support. Re-registered vehicles whose user has not changed after the re-registration date are deactivated and the user will receive the following message:
Dear x,
We have been notified by the Danish tax authorities (SKAT) that a change has been made to the registration of your vehicle, XXXXXXX. This may be due to a change of insurance company, re-registration, temporary deregistration, deregistration, etc. Your data connection to the vehicle has therefore been deactivated.
We need you to send us documentation of ownership of the vehicle, cf. the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You can do this by sending a photograph of part 1 of the registration certificate or a screenshot from your personal page at skat.dk. You can also simply take a photo of the mileage from the vehicle’s odometer. Please send this information to hello@connectedcars.dk. If you do not send us this documentation, the device will remain deactivated.
Best regards
Connected Cars
We ask the user to send documentation of ownership to ensure that the user who has access to the vehicle’s data in the app is the lawful owner of the vehicle. This message and process are for the user’s own safety.
NB!! The report from SKAT only tells us that there has been a change to the registration of re-registered vehicles. Therefore, we cannot specifically see whether there has been a change of ownership. For this reason, we send this message to all users who have not been removed after the change date.
