Have you noticed that some vehicles display different data points than others? Or that details like mileage or fuel level haven't updated in several days?
This guide explains why these variations occur and how to interpret the status of the data you see in ConnectedWorkshop.
1. Why data varies between vehicles
Every vehicle model is a unique combination of electronics, engine types, and model years.
Compatibility: When a CC-Link is installed, it automatically attempts to identify the vehicle's specific configuration. If the model is fully supported, all data points will appear immediately.
New or Unknown Models: If the vehicle has a rare or brand-new configuration, some data might be unavailable. Our system flags these instances so our engineers can work on supporting them in future updates.
Manufacturer Restrictions: Some manufacturers simply do not "broadcast" certain data points. For example, some cars may show fuel in litres, while others only provide a percentage. Others may show oil life but not the specific inspection interval.
2. How to Read the Data Status - The "Connectivity" Tab
For a deeper look, open the Vehicle Details page and select the Connectivity tab.
This tab provides a "technical heartbeat" of the car, showing:
Last Data Received: The exact timestamp of the last successful handshake.
Active Alerts: Specific notes like "Tracking disabled by user" or "Low signal area."
-
Hardware Info: Firmware version and CC-Link serial number.
Outdated Data (Greyed-out text)
-
What it means: The information has not been updated recently.
-
Common Causes:
The vehicle has been parked for several days.
The ignition was not turned on for long enough to transmit a full data packet
Tip: Hover your mouse over the value to see exactly when the data was last received (e.g. "3 days ago").
3. When should you take action?
Updates after Driving: In most cases, outdated data will refresh automatically the next time the vehicle is driven for more than a few minutes.
Persistent Issues: If a vehicle is being driven daily but the data remains "Greyed out" or hasn't updated for over 48 hours, it may indicate a connectivity issue.
