With the increasing digitalization in the automotive industry and with a CC-Link installed in vehicles, workshops now have the capability to remotely access and read ECU (Electronic Control Unit) error codes from customers' vehicles. This advanced feature can be a game-changer for workshops, offering a range of benefits for improved service, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Here are some of the key advantages and uses of having an overview of all reported error codes.
Improved Diagnostics and Efficiency
Remote access to error codes allows you as a workshop user to quickly diagnose problems without the vehicle needing to be physically present. This means that you can:
-
Identify Problems Faster: By accessing error codes in real-time, you can immediately identify and assess the severity of issues.
-
Prepare for Repairs: Knowing the issues in advance allows you to prepare necessary parts and tools, reducing repair time.
-
Prioritize Work: With a clear overview of which vehicles have the most critical issues, workshops can prioritize their work more effectively, ensuring the most urgent problems are addressed first.
Enhanced Customer Service
By remotely monitoring the condition of your customers' vehicles, you can offer proactive customer service:
-
Early Warnings: Inform customers of potential issues before they escalate into major and more expensive repairs.
-
Schedule Maintenance: Send reminders to customers about routine maintenance based on the error codes read, which can improve the vehicle’s performance and lifespan.
-
Increased Trust: By showing customers precise diagnostics and recommended repairs based on error codes, workshops can build greater trust and transparency.
Targeted Marketing for Specific Maintenance Areas
Error codes can also be used to identify common issues and focus marketing efforts:
-
Particulate Filter Maintenance: If many vehicles report issues with the particulate filter, workshops can run campaigns highlighting the importance of particulate filter cleaning and maintenance.
-
Air Conditioning Service: error codes indicating air conditioning problems can be used to offer specific discounts or services such as air conditioning check-ups and maintenance.
-
Specific Components: Use error code data to identify other common issues, such as brakes, batteries, or ignition systems, and run targeted campaigns for these areas.
How It Works in ConnectedWorkshop
Under "Leads," we have added a new category called "Diagnostics," which contains error codes. On the error codes page, you can see an overview of all the errors that your installed CC-Link devices have detected in your customers' vehicles. These error codes are categorized by severity: Permanent, Sporadic, and Potential, read more about the categories here. You can also see which ECU the error code was read from and how often it has been recorded. The system also provides a qualified description of what the error code means.
As a workshop user, you can sort by severity, ECU, and use the search field to find specific error codes or vehicles. You can filter by open or closed error codes, and you can set the period for the latest error code readings within: 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, 30 days or All error codes.
