Understanding User Rights in ConnectedWorkshop

In ConnectedWorkshop, team members can be assigned either Basic or Manager rights. While both roles share access to core daily features, certain administrative tasks are reserved strictly for managers.

This article explains the differences between the two access levels.

User with Basic Rights

Basic rights are designed for team members who handle day-to-day workshop tasks. A user with Basic rights can:

  • Manage Vehicles: Add new vehicles, activate pending vehicles, update vehicle information, and link vehicles to private or commercial fleet profiles.

  • Communicate with Customers: View customer profiles and send direct messages to car owners.

  • Track Diagnostics & Service: View live vehicle data, service reminders, active alerts, and error codes.

  • View Workshop Insights: View general workshop information, opening hours, and overall workshop KPIs.

User with Manager Rights

Manager rights include all the capabilities of Basic rights, plus exclusive administrative control over the workshop's settings and staff.

Only a user with Manager rights can:

  • Manage Staff Access: Invite new users to the workshop and change the access levels (promote or demote) of existing team members.

  • Adjust Workshop Settings: Edit the workshop's general information, update the physical location displayed to customers in their mobile app, and change listed opening hours.

  • Configure Automation & Revenue: Set or update the automated customer replies (for both inside and outside of opening hours) and edit the estimated revenue values for different lead types.

Best Practice Recommendation

  • For Service Managers & Team Leads: We recommend assigning Manager rights only to individuals responsible for daily workshop operations, configuration, and staffing decisions.

  • For Technicians & Service Advisors: All staff using the system for daily servicing, diagnostics, and customer communication should be assigned Basic rights. This allows them to fully perform their jobs without the risk of accidentally altering critical workshop settings or user access.
