When a vehicle changes ownership, it’s essential to ensure that only the rightful owner has access to the vehicle’s data in the Connected Cars system.
Follow the steps below to properly update the user.

Before initiating the process of adding a user to a vehicle, it is essential to verify that the person is the rightful owner. This must be done by requesting clear documentation, such as the vehicle’s registration certificate, that confirms ownership.
Adding a user without verifying ownership constitutes a direct violation of GDPR regulations and must be strictly avoided.
Step-by-Step Guide
Remove Existing User
- Click on “Remove user”
- Confirm by clicking “Yes, remove user”

Verify Ownership and Match Credentials
- Ask the customer to provide a copy of the car registration certificate (reg. attest)
- Verify that the name and details match the new user being added to the vehicle

Add New User
- Click on “Add user”
- Enter the verified email address and phone number of the new user

Send the Invitation
- Tick all three checkboxes to confirm data processing and GDPR compliance
- Click “Invite user”

User Confirmation
- The new user will receive an invitation by email (and SMS if phone number is added)
- They must accept the invitation to complete the activation and gain access to the vehicle
